That's why I make an effort to look at multiple sources. I know everyone's got an agenda, but I figure if you find several sources giving you roughly the same information, it probably lies fairly close to the truth.

At any rate, I just thought it was an interesting contrast.

True, it is interesting to see the numbers.

Another set of numbers, however, is the ratings - FOX took all the top ten spots on ratings last week - now, this could mean that FOX has the preferred opinion - or it could mean that people who are inclined to watch FOX watch more TV than people who are inclined to watch MSNBC.

It could also mean that not enough people watch the news at all - and are not informed about what is happening in the world. It is easier to grab "sound bites" (cliff notes news) here and there than to do your homework and make an informed decision.

That last "could also mean" is probably why we are in the mess we are in this day and age

I know my parents do not bother to watch the news, voted without having a clue what the issues were or where the candidates stood on the issues...

My mother voted for Jennifer Granholm TWICE simply because she was a woman!!!

I get tons of those horrid "forwarded" emails from the woman - at least 5 a day - every day - about patriotism, God and the military, etc... But she votes against those things more often than not - because (and I quote) "I can't be bothered with watching all that news, I just watch the campaign commercials and decide".

It's a wonder I have a hair left on my head.

Of course, when the folks she votes into office prove themselves to not be in line with her philosophies, she complains constantly about them - umm, Honey, you voted them into office... remember?

I find it hard to understand how a woman who believes that abortion is murder, is a veteran married to another veteran (and proud of it), who is not only homophobic but (mildly - if one can be mild about it) racist as well can vote for any democratic candidate. Then complain when they don't follow her belief system.

Mom doesn't talk politics with me in person much anymore (the FWD emails keep showing up, though) because the last time I made her cry - and I am only slightly ashamed of doing so because you're not supposed to make your mom cry.

Sometimes I just want to slap her.

Sadly, I don't think her methods of choosing a candidate are so uncommon.

True, but I also have to wonder how many (for instance) FOX viewers go to MSNBC websites.... Unless someone posts a link to send them there to skew the poll

(seen it happen before).

Just judging from what I've watched on mainstream media in the past few days - I don't trust any of them. Not their polls, not their news stories, not the commentators....

They all have an agenda - and will report in a way that fits that agenda - and no one is "just reporting the news" anymore.

I thought I was going to keep my mouth shut during this thread but cant.

Our news is a joke you get better info from the Daily show at least John Stewart admits he is bias, but tells it like it is. Sad really since it is a comedy show. As for how this money has been handled, well I cant say that I agree with it at all. I am hoping for new regulations that will stop all of this from happening. But here is where I am surprised. For 8 years we had an incompetent president who could do nothing right but clear leaves, now when we have a guy who at least is intelligent, working with smart people and really trying and all our panties are in a bunch, I just don't get it. Where were all these angry people for the last 8 years, I could not have been the only one.

As for taxing the wealthiest well I say good, I may not say so when I am writing HUGE checks but my family does fall in that upper bracket and frankly I don't mind. I do not feel as though it is my family that deserves the tax break I feel it is my friends busting their humps to pay student loans, and try to own a home and raise a family as middle class that deserve it. The last 8 years the only people to benefit were the ones in the high bracket, I am not sure if what is going on will help, or is any better but geez cant we at least give it a chance? And I swear the next person to say we are headed towards socialism I am handing a dictionary to.

I keep hearing that it was a bipartisan thing. From most of the post that I have read on here it is definitely a right wing thing. Fox had something like 78 commercials promoting it and talked about numerous times. FOX is as far right as you can get without falling off the chart. Beck had that wacko from Texas that went out and killed the 2 Mexicans that were burglarizing the house across the street. Beck had him up on the stage getting the crowd riled up. Wouldn't have wanted to be a Mexican in that crowd. On TV I saw anti Obama signs everywhere. The gov of Texas talking about secession. Texas has had to get Federal ad how many times in the past 10 years? No this whole thing is a bunch of right wing corporations and politicians using a valid issue to try to turn people to their way of thinking. I know a lot of right wingers on here claim to be conservative or independent instead of Republican because Bush used you and threw you away. But lets admit it the tea bag parties were a right wing thing. If anybody showed up with signs claiming they were liberal they might have been lynched.

I was right there with you.

Bravo!!!! Instead of catch phrases, it is about time folks start researchingthe issues (agreed..from multiple sources) and taking actions to help remedy situations.

No more "sheeple"...time to work towards never repeating the mistakes that have been made.

Beak, admittedly, politically, I'm somewhere to the right of Attila The Hun, and would never admit to being just a conservative. I'm way beyond that. I think though that you have missed the point. This was more than anything an exercise of our 1st Amendment rights. This was the first rally/protest/whatever that I ever attended. I felt I had to show support in some way because as I said before our government is a Runaway Train. I personally for myself could care less what happens, but I have an eight year old Grandson, and I do care what happens to him. You young people will have to live for many years with the results of what's happening now. Try to put aside the bias, and examine things carefully. By the way there was a very prominent Mexican Flag being waved at the Alamo gathering.

oh I saw it coming, I was screaming when for years we argued over "sexual acts" in the oval office and did not pay attention to bigger more important things, I gasped as we sat around silently as a man who had bankrupted every company he had ever had power over became our president, the leader of our country. And then cried as he manipulated our constitution and set us back decades in the medical field and claimed global warming a hoxe, I worried even as I cashed big commission checks that our mortgage system would crash and urged my customers (sometimes loosing the deal in the process) that they could not afford as much as the banks claimed.

Please understand I DO think we are headed for really bad times, I just think we are placing the blame in the wrong place and putting band aids over gushing wounds. We need to focus, I think it is great and very powerful that people are finally coming together geareduplyn for me that was the only redeeming quality to these tea parties, finally seeing people take some initiative all be it mis guided in my opinion and completely generated by the right and promoted by their lap dogs FOX news. You worry about your grandson, as I do about my 3 1/2 year old son he, and his future is the reason for just about everything I do. I just pray that we can now use this unity to actually accomplish something useful. BTW I don't consider myself either republican or democrat I choose a little from each plate
