Personally, I'd like to see the US government utilize a team of 10-20 top non-partisan economists with no ties to Wall Street, lawmakers or the banks to form a Blue Ribbon panel to review economic courses of action to the President, the House and the Senate. I'd also like to see these economists have term limits of possibly 10 years and come from varying disciplines of economic theory. Their job would be to be a fiscal watchdog for all government uses of taxpayer funds.

Kind of like a Supreme Court in charge of reviewing fiscal issues such as budgets and spending programs. Then, maybe spending bills will actually be read by experts before they are voted on and passed by politicians.

I believe that the law of supply and demand should be allowed to right the current problems. The problems we are having now are not democratic or republician, they are a result of our own doing. We import everything we possibly can and produce very little. People complain that they cannot find work, but thousands of people risk their lives to cross the border to jobs that pay 10 times more than they make in their homeland. So what's the deal?

I just had a discussion with some of my students about how the world changes. they can't fathom that in the early 90's cell phones were in bags bigger than their notebooks. Or that there used to be no such thing as the "internet" Nobody could text or had a phone that could. My sons know nothing of a tv antenna you have to go turn to get the right station much less use a pair of pliers to turn the channel! It blows their mind to think that my father went to town once the month and that was to buy coffee, flour, and sugar!

Point is, we have been blessed in this country almost to the point of not being able to fend for ourselves. We subsidies (sp?) farmers so that we can import the same crop cheaper from other countries. Put America back to work, let us make a living. Law of supply and demand. Have we become to good to do the jobs our fathers once did? There is a reason I admire our fathers and grandfathers. They were never too proud or too lazy to put in a hard days work.

Yes this country needs to work together. We have 2 parties and 2 media groups that are working against each other. The lesser group is going to lose the battle, but the country would sure heal faster if they would all work together. Everybody doing their own thing with no regard for their fellow human is what has driven this country into the ground. If someone offered you the opportunity to earn 10 million dollars then told you it would cause 500 people to lose their jobs and their assets but it is perfectly legal would you do it? Well a lot of people would and have. It's called unregulated capitalism. There's plenty to be had even with regulations. Regulations just keep some people with reptilian morals from taking advantage of the system.

I am sorry but I cannot agree with you on this. That would be like a mule team going in two different directions nothing gets done. I do agree that we need to be free to be individuals but we do need to work together to make this country what it was many many years ago.

also a good point - but the main point is, it ought to be our choice - not mandated by the government.

Pursuing your own happiness doesn't mean you get to take someone else's money to do it. Unless you destroy true capitalism that is.

No, stealing from one group of people and redistributing the wealth of others while protecting people from the natural consequences of their actions has gotten us in to this mess.​
