x2!Anything we don't eat goes to the birds. They don't necessarily eat everything I throw in there, but they either turn it into eggs or make it magically vanish into the dirt.
I feed them almost all leftovers or stuff I put in the compost bucket (except onion scraps and avacados), lettuce, scraps of meat, catalope rinds, watermelon rinds, apple cores, leftover kids lunches, what I scrap off my kids plates, they especially love chinese food! I heat the egg shells in the microwave to make them brittle and crush them up they love it. Heck chickens will eat almost anything. Be careful if you are eating outside and they are loose, I was eating a piece of pizza not too long ago and had the crust left which I was going to eat, they saw I had something and came a running, I hid the crust behind my back (like that was really hiding it) and one of them came around behind me and jumped up and grabbed it from me and took off running. I guess they wanted it more than me! haha I had to laugh. Some things they like better than others but live and learn. Oh yeah scrambled eggs!
I always throw my scraps on the ground. I dont see what it hurts. As much time as i see them pecking in the dirt i dont see what a little more will hurt.question???? Do ya'll put the scraps on the ground or do the chickens have a treat bucket? Since I have just been giving mine veggies I have just been throwing it on the ground.
