Table scraps for chicks

How old should I let my chicks get before I start feeding them table scraps, peeling, or any other food besides chick starter?

I would like to second that question! My chicks are 2 and 3 weeks old. I have put lettuce, cabbage and grass in their brooder and they peck at the stuff but don't really "eat" any of it. Is that ok at that age???
