Table Scraps

They love cabbage though... at least mine do. I buy a raw head of cabbage from the store and tie it up and hang it in their coop and they have something other than the ground and each other to peck at.

We read that we weren't to feed chickens potato and were very disappointed coz we eat a lot of the stuff! I've been reading on BYC that lots of people feed them potato, does that include peels? Has anyone found they affect their chickens in a bad way?
I always toss my potato peels into the scrap bucket. I figure if they don't like it, then it will at least decompose eventually. I have not heard that potatoes are bad for chickens.

Does anyone know of the best method for keeping water in their coop? I have a deep bowl for the 2 but I'm trying to figure out if I should get a bucket and make a watering dish. I just don't want the water to get stale if I give it to them in such large portions at a time.

I buy those galvanized waterers and keep one inside the coop and one outside the coop. I like the metal ones but if you give ACV you need plastic.

I've read the only bad things for chickens are citrus, avocado, green potato peels, sugar and salt. Other than that I think you're good to go.

I just started using chicken nipples and love it, so much less mess and you don't have to clean the water out daily.
