She is probably 1+ year. I do think she has laid in the past but we have 40 chix on the farm. We have soaked her in an epson salts bath, flushed her vent, examined internally for egg but nothing. What do we treat reproductive disorder or infection. No chix vets anywhere near us. Lower belly not swollen. Thanks for any help. How old is she and has she laid eggs recently? Is her lower belly enlarged or swollen? Hens who have this posture with her tail down, may be sick or suffering from a reproductive disorder or infection. It would be hard to know without seeing a vet. Have you inserted a clean finger inside her vent 1-2 inches to feel for an egg?
How is that treated. No chix vet near us. Thank you for any helpThere Doesn’t have to be an actual egg to be egg bound. Could be egg yolk peritonitis. That will give you the same symptoms.
Are these meds injectible or oral? Most antibiotics are not approved for chickens, but if you feel that she might be suffering from a reproductive disorder, some people use fish mox amoxicillin or enrofloxacin (Baytril.) Both are available online or from pigeon medicine suppliers.
Oral. Get some baytril. It's a liquid and it's a good broad spectrum antibiotic. How is that treated. No chix vet near us. Thank you for any help
