Tail feather question....might be dumb

Okay, do hens ever get the curved tail feathers that are attributed to Roos?

I have two chickens that act like hens and at almost three months have not crowed, but they have those longer, curved tailfeathers.

Is that a dead giveaway, or are there ever exeptions?

If these two are roosters, than of my original four, three will have been!

Don't know of any breeds where the hens get those long sickles so young, but even if there are any I would guess if they are showing up at only 3 months old you have roosters. Sorry. For the ones acting like hens it can a be dominance thing from the more matured/dominant roos. JMO. Hope this helps.

Darn. These guys come when I call them.... they hop up on my lap for a scratch. Fortunately, i have a contact that will let me trade them in for hens, but I've already taken one hen in trade so far, and of course it doesn't respond to me like the ones i hand raised, so getting back in the coop is a chore. I think I'll just try again with baby chicks next Spring
