Picked up some hens the other day and this girl came along. She’s missing her tail feathers. Previous owners thought maybe stress moulting? Any ideas? She seems okay other than maybe a bit more sleepy than the others. Still eating and drinking. Exploring.

That’s my thought. She was in a smaller space than we have with more hens so hoping she’s happier here and they grow back.

I’m new to this. Is there anything I can do to help her?
Well, the feathers won't grow back, until after she begins molting, which will probably be late summer, early fall, late fall, or early winter. Hard knowing when she'll molt exactly.

If you feel it's necessary, you can use a hen saddle to cover the bare back.

Okay thank you so much for the info!
