So jealous. Hunting over here is a big no-no. Secretly following all kinds of reddits about hunting and am doing taxidermy on the down-low.. and am eating home-bred animals.. but could never share that because I will lose a lot of customers and credibillity because it is a BIG faux pas.

I personally hate too rich people spending way to much to shoot an endangered lion solely for a nice head on the wall (not even eating it...).. every duck in this country is endengared; so logically I can't and will not shoot them.. but being able to shoot certain animals and cater your own meat instead of going to the supermarket; that's nice. And how it is supposed to be. So sometimes a bit jealous of people living somewhere, where te local wildlife is so healthy it can take it.
sorry to hear hunting is not allowed or social allowed. where i live it seems everyone knows someone who hunts. its just common practice here, in fact some animals are getting out of control. may i ask why? is your country not supportive of hunting.

snow geese (or to some flying rats) are so high in population there eating themselves out of house and home. in fact during season where allowed 20 a day and no limit in the freezer.

also black bears are getting crazy over here, so much my province now allows us trappers to trap them.

wild meat seems to be either love or hate, and each animal is different, pronghorn compared to elk is a world different in my opinion.

oh i also found another recipe or well cut of meat that is interesting. beaver tail.

seems the frontiers men used to eat there beaver tails as they are pretty much all fat. seems the recipe is salt the fat and cook the tail over the fire until the skin peels off. slice very thin. season with a bit of salt.

We ruined our nature and procreated like rabbits. Build everywhere.

There is no nature here anymore. So every animal left is endangered in this country. No more bears, wolves, lynxes, horses; the wild pigs, foxes and deer we have left are sparce. Going down to certain type of mice/plants/birds; if you have those in your home/garden you can say goodbye to your building-plans until it leaves ;) Some ferns, hedgehogs, owls, marters, storks; if they choose your home; you are not allowed to do anything about the property.

And that is not excerated from a nature-loving hippie leftist libtard vieuw or whatever you might call it. We just actually did that. Ruined it. We are number 1 on population dencity in Europe. Technically 5th; but the four country's above us are city's like vatican city. Worldwide 23; with 521 people on a square kilometer; US is on place 177 with 33 people on a square kilometer; canada 3,6 people on a square kilometer..

Let that sink in. 488 people more to share your town square with; 488 people more on your football field, 488 people more on your terrain living there; 488 people more walking around on your hunting ground; 488 people more needing a parking space and roads on and towards those areas.. gets crowded quickly!

So we quite ruined this. No nature anymore; and thus no hunting. Please don't copy.

That sounds delicious!
You had me at "pretty much all fat".

Edit; now finding a way to break in to the zoo to steal one :p

i have yet to trap a beaver but hoping to get one this spring, they have quite a few different uses, the hide is good for selling to the fur trade, the meat is supposed to be really good, the tail is all fat, also you can either use the tail for leather or chop it up for tail oil for other fur bearers.

sorry to hear. i knew Europe banned trapping awhile ago. i watch a few people who hunt and shoot over there in Europe, i know your guys system is not like ours. but did not think it was that bad.

we have our own issues with animal activists here as well, a few groups want to ban trapping (and hunting/fishing to a larger purpose) but there more of a joke, who twist everything to make it sound that there doing good. lots of myths they spread which are not true.

but thankfully hunting fishing and trapping have a strong base here.

It's not all over Europe. The Netherlands is extremely populated. Northern Europe, Germany and Poland and other middle-Europe countries, eastern europe and some countries at the south still have a healthy animal population. Some more then others; so it is different per country. Some like Germany and France have short hunting seasons; you need to have a permit and only so many people are allowed to shoot so many animals from certain species; while other countries it is free for all. I Immagine it is the same in states in the U.S. I remember that the state of new york (I think NY city acutally in size; dencity NY state)) is around the same size as the Netherlands with as many people living there. Same climate too. Good luck finding bears/wolves/deer/etc to hunt there in comparison to other states with more nature.. (North-carolina and texas I see often when checking in on a hunting board).

We have some animal extremists still. For years. They are annoying. I'm pro nature too. We have nature-guards here that NEED to shoot animals, and give perments to people; because otherwise it will be unbalanced because we live here too and killed of all other predators. If we suddenly have millions of deer walking around because we killed off there natural predators and don't do anything; they eat/ruin stuff so other animals die off. These people get harrassed a lot with deaththreads and such. while these people studied and got there job out of preversation of nature. They do not like shooting animals. But it is part of the job; as the same protecting a rare mushroom/plant is from people stepping on it so it won't die out.

And we also now have hostile attacks on farmers. Farmers that do everything to adjust to all environmental rules to breed their animals better. Or even more then that. Since they love their stock. Espcecially pigs. You might know how intelligent animals that are that you as a farmer can get really attached to. It's so sad. As a farmer you don't make a dime here. They do it because their parents did it and they love their animals giving them all kinds of toys and such. And these extremists all from Europe come in; break in to their property, go sit in the pig-house with horns and such untill they are listened too for days. scaring all the pigs. Recording the scared pigs as proof how bad it is here.. urgh. These pigs were fine and well taken care of untill you came in with all your horns and bells and whistles.. some newborn piglets dieing because they took them in their hands too to prove that is was so bad and contamenaiting them with bacteria/viruses that can go from humans and pigs and visa verca.. that they do not know of because they are not pig farmers... and the saddest movie I saw from this extremist group was titled (they do not only do pigs, but mainly)(and I kid you not;); "this rabbit-meat farm has such poor conditions baby-rabbits are born without hair".

:he

They are often young, want to create a better world; good. Get sucked in like; full with positive people around their same age and that gives spirit. Being apart of a group; together standing for a cause being surounded by positive people. With slightly older leaders that are the same to look up to and promise a better future and prevention of doom if you follow them (cult much?) Just... still naive. I'm 100% sure that 90 procent are decent people and will turn around and actually become key in together creating a suitable environment for humans and animals at the current time in specific areas in the future. They will be a key in management. Just sucked into an extreme path right know due to false idealistic promisses. In a capalistic society. (I said capalistic because it is giving at an extra dimension; 1 reason why we are not allowed over here to hunt/keep/slaughter our own animals is because then it would be a competition to supermarkets/farmers/etc.; next to animal cruelty and nature-preservance, I do not condone capitalism as wrong persé, but wanted to outline that a lot of factors can be involved; so solutions are never easy)

You have weird opinions/reactions here too: The same person that has just proudly shared the recipe for their delicious last Sunday's deer-stew glares at you in disbelieve and disgust when you describe how you have bbq'd kangaroo steaks… How can you eat such a sweet 'roooo!?
Not knowing the natural Kangaroo predators in Australia (Dingo) have been almost eradicated because the also developed a taste for sheep, and therefore the sweet and cuddly 'rooos (they are not sweet and definitely not cuddly!) have turned into a pest and must be hunted toi keep their numbers down.
And in regards of the well meant actions of the youngsters, look no further than you neighboring country: Due to the massive protests of the FFF kids, momma Angela has announced that all coal-fired power plants are being shut down by 2030. Nuclear power plants have already been declared evil. So there will only be photo-voltaic and wind available to generate all the electricity for all the electric cars that shall replace all fossil fuel vehicles before 2030.
The way to hell is paved with good intentions - they say here…

agree, we have some animal extreme activists,

they don't do as much of property damage here (as far as i know) do to the fact that farmer's and ranchers are just super common here, i mean the south third of my province is pretty much all farm and ranch land. the other two thirds are roughly forest only.

here in Canada for hunting in my province, hunting seasons are only a few weeks for most big game, but rabbits are open year round and game birds have about a 3-4 month hunting season. and our trapping season is long with about 4 months for most animals and 6 months to year long for others.

we have that system too, where you have to be drawn for certain animals, (elk and moose in the certain areas) and other areas we can just buy a tag over the counter. for example one of our properties we own we can just buy a bear, elk and deer tag every year. but have to apply for a draw for moose.
