Most of my birds are backyard mixes. I have a few that I can pinpoint the breed, but a few that I am clueless about and would greatly appreciate opinions on, such as:

Her coloring reminds me of our black sumatra (minus the black comb), but she is crested. I have no idea what kind of mix she might be. Any ideas?

This is Skully .She is supposed to be a cuckoo maran bantam. I'm not sure since I've been told they are very rare. She is tiny. The bantam seabright she is beside is around 8 weeks (I think) while she is 6 months old.

This is rumpless (we aren't very good at naming). What mix this chicken is is anyone's guess. Seriously, take a guess because I am clueless.

The black bird looks like a Polish mix.
The little barred bird may be a bantam Marans, but they should have white skin and straight combs. Is she laying, and what color eggs?

I got nothing on the big bird except genetic soup lol. A profile pic would help. He doesn't look truly rumples, does he have a tail bone? Usually rumples birds have a downhill build, he looks like he might have some Orpington influence and just have that round basketball shape.

Here is a profile pic of rumpless (the best side pic I have right now). I'm not sure on the tail bone. It feels like a knot under the downward laying feathers on its back. So that could be a tailbone.

Edit: I just looked up orpingtons. I had no idea that some orpingtons were rounded like that. Definitely looks like there is some mixed in with the big bird.

I haven't caught the bantam laying yet. I think she is, but the bantams tend to stay in their own group during they day and like to lay around in the tall grass bordering our property. Her face went red about a month ago.

When I first saw pics of true quality Orpingtons, I thought they were mixed with Cochins

. The really well bred English birds are so rounded and fluffy, hatchery stock just doesn't look the same.

I'm honestly not sure what else he may have in him. He's got a unique look for sure!

I guess I was just looking for the wrong thing. I kept searching for rumpless bird and araucana kept coming up. I knew this wasn't an araucana mix. He's a huge bird. I swear he looks like a little emu when he runs around the yard. His gait is so different from my other chickens.

Your rumpless bird may be a purebred bird that is supposed to have a tail. The rumpless fault can happen in any breed. Itsa genetic defect and not common. Are his legs lightly feathered? Looks almost maran like.

And I really got nothing at this point on the barred bird. Its got a pea comb...

No, the rumpless doesn't have leg feathers and I highly doubt it's a purebred based on where it came from. I'm sure it could still be a mutation, though. At this point nothing would surprise me.

Skully (bared bantam) does have a pea comb and dark legs. We bought her because I thought she was going to die. I know that doesn't make sense, but she was being trampled by the other chicks and I thought if she was going to die, at least we could make it as peaceful as possible (that sounds a little crazy, I know), but she thrived in a brooder with fewer chicks, only she never really grew like they did. She got her name because as a chick she had a white dot on her head that was shaped like a skull.
