The hen with chicks I think is an Australorp.
The white hen with black tracings on the neck and tail is a Light Brahma and a nice looking one at that.
The roo is a Brahma mix.

Would a Light Brahma in America be the same as a Light Sussex in Australia? You know, same chook, different name?

When I got mine, I was originally looking for a Brahma (found out about them on the Internet) but couldn't find any in my state. I got this Sussex as it looked the same...

Light Sussex and Light Brahmas are very different breeds. The coloration is very much the same, but similarity ends there. The Brahma is a really large bird with feathered feet and the most distinguished facial features of most any chicken. The standard Susex will be two or more pounds smaller than the Brahma. They have clean legs and a single comb. The Brahma comb is a pea comb.
