Taking a duck to the vet

I have a khaki camble that has a bold patch on the back of her head, the bold patch on her head the skin is flaky and the feathers around it are white, originally I thought she was just old as she is around 7 years old now but with the flaky skin I am not sure, we have treated her for mites twice (with ivermectin spot on) but it didn't improve. The weird thing is none of my other birds have any skin problems which is why I thought originally that it was old age

We are moving from England to ireland some time next month and we are giving our 4 khaki cambles and 4 chickens to a friend so we want to make sure she is healthy

She has a vet appointment tomorrow morning at 10.15
I am worried that she is going to have a heart attack or something from the stress
Is their any ways to make it less stressful for her

Should I bring another duck with me? I have 8 call ducks that are very friendly one of them could come

Should I provide water and maybe food?

Or anything else?

Thanks for your help

I’m sure others with more experience of this will answer soon but from the other side (vet nurse) I can say that we used to see fowl with no issues to them. Most animals feed off the humans energy, so if you are perfectly calm and act as though nothing untoward is happening they are generally ok. I would ensure the box is just the right size so she can’t move around or get shoogled around in it. Good air holes for breathing. With a bit of bedding from the coop so she has a comforting scent around her. Once she is in the dark she will likely settle down as though it were bedtime.
If you think one of the other ducks is a calming influence then you can take her also but I would be wary of putting another duck in too close proximity just in case it is something that can be passed on by close contact. Best of luck with the move, and hope you get an answer at the vets

All my other ducks (not the khakis) totally feed of of me but they are so nervous around people I am not sure how much she will feed of me

I have a plastic cat carrier that i will have her in with a towel over it but I had not though of taking some bedding from the house, that is a great idea,

I had forgotten to say (will edit main post and put this in) she is living with all my birds and the weird thing is no one else has any problems which is why I originally thought it was old age

Thanks we are all looking forward to moving (my little sister is less excited though)

Fingers crossed it is an easy fix

Thank you

So we grabbed the duck this morning and she was fine!
Something worked whether it was the ivermectin or if it was moving them to a new pen
Anyway we cancelled the vet appointment and left her be, best outcome I could have thought of
We are taking her and her friends to their new home this weekend
