Top 3 Laying Hen Breeds:
1. White leghorn
Why?: Nice white eggs and dont go broody, however they jump fences really well!
2. Back x breds
Why?: nice personality, dont go broody, short moult
3. Hylines
Why?: best egg producer of them all, however short lifespan.

Top 3 Standard Breeds:
1. Australorp
Why?: very placid, intelligent, meat birds, good layers
2. refer to Mdbucks
Why?: cause he knows his birds

Why?: and i dont do standards.

Top 3 Bantam Breeds:
1. silkies of course
Why?: pretty, placid, sometimes the whites can be flighty though, so i prefer buffs!
2. faverolles
Why?: pretty, sing all day,
3. Langshans .
Why?: pretty faces.

Top 2 Quail Breeds:
1. sorry, dont do quail
Why?:

1. no, dont do them either!

Americanua (hope I spelled that right). Pretty green eggs.

1. RIR's
Why?: lots of eggs it a classic what can I say.
2.Leghorn
Why?:tons of eggs but kinda flighty
3.Cuckoo marans
Why?:because mine are friendly and should lay dark eggs

1.Marans
Why?ey lay nice dark eggs and seem friendly.
2. Amerucans (true breed not EE's)
Why?:cause they lay a nice blue egg and are not bad to look at either.
3.Delawares
Why?:because my new ones are idioticaly friendly

1. I dont have bantams as a rule (see MDbucks)
Why?:Because they are too small to be usefull for eggs even though they are kinda cute

OK, my only experience with chickens is with Bantams, and sooo...


Bantam Breeds
1. Cochins
Why? Beacause they are SO nice and mellow for my kids
2. D'Uccles
Why? Because they are beautiful and we really hope they will be as nice as the Cochins!
3. These 2, and Brahmas, have been the only breeds that I have personal experience with, and the Brahmas were more high strung and not nearly as appreciative of being held, so they didn't even qualify for #3 status!
