We are going to take some of our Barred Rock hens and a rooster to the fair. We hope to sell two groups of 3 for a total of 5 hens and a rooster. We have to sell them with the intention of meat which means we might have to bring them home to finish or process. Which rooster would you take, the head rooster or a lesser rooster? After a rooster is gone for a few days will it fight to get its position back? We don't plan to keep any roosters because of our kids but we may not be able to process these roosters until after we finish harvest. These roosters are just now starting to fight for their place in the pecking order. I think they were hatched on April 20th.
