I am a newbie at this. I have a hen that has been sitting on eggs for about 3 weeks. I have checked them and they are not fertilized. What should I do at this point? Would it hurt anything to just take the eggs form her? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A note: She is a family pet and is allowed to just roam around (unlike the other chickens) and has made her nest on the back porch in a box.

you could take the eggs from her, but she'll still wanna sit in the nest for a while longer. You could move her to a separate cage with food and water so she would snap out of her broodiness
