I think I'm going to take the *big* step of buying a Hova Bator 1588 w/ auto egg turner (with a little help from my family for Christmas). Gosh, I'm so excited, I keep looking at all the darling hatching pictures on this board and getting even more excited...
For any of you who has this bator (or one like it), I have a few questions:
*How much effort does incubating take? Would it be okay to be gone for a few days (I'll be visiting my mom at Thanksgiving) or should I wait until after that, so I'm home for the whole incubation period?
*If I'm going to be gone, when's the best timing? is it better to put the eggs in right before I leave, so that it's still early on in the incubation period?
*How often do you have to refill the water for the humidifier?
*Best place to buy a Hovabator? (Anyone have especially good experience with a particular store that had good shipping/help over the phone/price?)
Thanks so much for any help
and to all of you wonderful BYCers who feed my chicken addiction with beautiful pictures and stories every day!!
