I don't have any chickens yet. Just bought some land and haven't moved in yet, so I'm in the early stage of planning/research. I found this site when I googled "raising chickens in Florida." It looks like a great place to help me start off on the right foot, and head in the right direction. It will be a few months before I'm ready to construct my coop. I have two chihuahuas.

I can hardly wait to get started!

from California!

BYC is the absolutely best resource anywhere - I lurked a while, mostly when I was looking for coop plans, but eventually had to participate once my chicks started to turn into chickens and needed information.

Here you will find support, information, assistance in preventing mistakes AND in fixing those you already made before checking on BYC (been there, done that!), and it's a wonderful community of like-minded folks. Oh and some dissimilar ones, too, which makes it so much more interesting and worthwhile!

Good luck! Read much, post often, and by all means, share photographs. We LOVE pictures! Of coops, of chicks, ducklings, grown poultry, family members, pets, your property, just about anything family-friendly.
