We got chicks for the first time mid February, early March. We have lost chicks and saved chicks, we have lost older almost full grown chicks and we have salvaged and readjusted for the survivors.

This is the first home in the community. It is referred to as the mansion. It was made from an old play set and scrap wood. It originally held 17 chickens from the age of 12 weeks to the age of 19 weeks. At which we were attacked by a savage enemy that took a total of 10 of our beloved members.

This is the second home in our gated community. It was built for younger chicks to stay while being introduced to a new flock, the original chicks preferred the mansion with the slightly older chickens and was left abandoned for a time.

After the infamous day of the attack no survivor would enter this end of the woods again.

Inside our house we had 11 chicks that were ready to move outside, so with two homes vacant and a nice sized run connecting the two residents together, we decided to move our youngest members outside to a now more fortified neighborhood.

The new residents did seem to enjoy their neighborhood.

The older chickens now resided in a modest home around the corner with a much larger run.

This home would become known as the playhouse coop. Built in haste to keep the traumatized members safe and comfortable.

They seemed to be comfortable in this new location.

This really helped ease the pain of our lost chickens. It's the first ones to happily sit in my lap.

It was so brutal and terrible I had nightmares for a week, and I couldn't get on backyard chickens for like a month and a half.
I know how devastating it can be. :hugs

Aww...I love lap sitters, they really do fill our love tanks! Glad she was able to help you heal. ❤
