Introducing the Barnevelder crosses

(Individual posts coming up for the ones that I'll be keeping in the flock)

Age: Just over 3 months old
Gender: Mixed
Other: Planning on keeping a select few, and selling/giving away the rest. Might end up eating extra roosters.

Introducing my Icelandic hen

Name: Butterscotch

Age: Can't remember! Doesn't seem old yet

Gender: Female

Personality: Flighty, like most Icelandics. The best survivalist I've ever met in the chicken world, and a terrific mother to her first batch (or at least I think it's her first batch) of baby chicks.

Other: She's the only one I have left from my original purebred Icelandic flock (but that is a very long story!!) I'd like to get more pictures of her, I've been trying to get just one that isn't blurry! But she doesn't let people come close to her, and isn't the most photogenic of my flock. I'll try my best to get a better shot, maybe while she's settling down to sleep for the night 🤔

Whew! I'm almost done introducing my flock! If I had known it would take this long, I would have started right in with pics/stories/more fun posts than introductions. But I was thinking it would be easier to share stories if there was somewhere for people to go to see what chickens I'm talking about...? Hopefully these posts will prove to be worth it in the long run, I do think they're a fun idea but we'll see. I'll be introducing some babies of the flock soon!

Bantam/Silke Mix:

This is one of the mixes that I got for free from a friend. I have no clue what breeds they are, or how old they are. Some of them had an extra toe and they're smaller chickens.

Name: Calla Lily
Age: Unknown
Gender: Hen
Personality: Quiet, likes to go unnoticed. But she's not timid.
Other: She hatched out a batch of adorable babies, who are a little over five weeks now! When they were just a day old she was stomping on a couple of them, I almost saved one.

(I'll be introducing her chicks soon - they're growing fast! One of them is a survivor of spraddle leg).

Good Lord. u kill chickens that eat eggs? i have an egg eater but its not a problem. they just usauly eat old ones, or i give them old ones for calcium

Introducing Sunflower:

Age: 8 weeks and 3 days old

Gender: Unknown (any guesses?)

Breed: Buff Orpington

Personality: Most social chicken I've ever had. Loved to chase after my shoes during outdoor time when only two weeks old. Now Sunflower has his/her own gang of chickens to run around with (Zipline, Splash, Fiji and Wisteria).
