Pooh on zoning laws - I am not zoned for chickens but have wanted them for years. I have a fenced in 1/4 acre on a highway in CT less than a mile from city hall. I figured that if the neighbors don't complain about the heavy metal band that practices in my basement 3 times a week I doubt they will complain about a few chickens. I tested that theory a year ago and got 4 rir chicks. Had to return one it was a roo. The neighbors on both sides of me gain endless amusement watching my girls play in the back yard all day. Most of them are elderly and bored. Talk to your neighbors and don't get a roo!!!
