Talk turkey to me! :D

So, I sold a dozen of the poults to someone and he has called a couple times and has now lost 6 of them! I did my homework before starting my turkey endeavour and I read that they die very easily. But mine are doing ok..I've only lost a few..he's lost half. He says they just aren't "thriving"...they are warm enough, feed and water are there..he says he has been dipping their beaks in the feed and water. I am not a fan of "overhandling" but he seems to be doing the right things. Pointers?

There are a lot of unknown variables.
Temp.
Bedding.
Is he dipping beaks to far into the water where they inhale some.

Try some shiny marbles in the waterer.

Place aluminum foil in brooder and scatter some feed on that.

Baby turkeys like shiny objects. Will usually peck at such things.
