tame turkeys

My neighbors have two tame turkeys and a few chickens. They will not even try keep them in their own yard. We have put up a fence but they have found their way around it back by the woods. We cannot afford to fence our entire property to keep out their birds. It's not that we don't like the birds, but they tear up the yard and turkey droppings aren't very little. What can I do discourage the birds without calling the law on the neighbors? Any help will be appreciated.

and, sorry you are having this problem with your neighbors. If they are ****** neighbors and I hadn't talked with them about the interloping poultry, before now - I'd probably, very politely, let them know I'd been seeing "unknown" dogs chasing the turkeys through the woods and "gee, I'd sure hate it if the dogs got them...". So, if the turkeys were to end up missing - the dogs would get blamed - not you.

If the circumstances are different than those I based "best guess" on - then be so kind as to provide more details (other members might have better options to offer - the more detail, the more exacting the proposals for you to consider).

The neighbors are nice, younger, and haven't a clue what boundaries are. I know them well enough to chit chat a bit when I see them outside. We put up a chicken fence along the boundary of our property and theirs a couple of years ago when they had over a dozen chickens running the neighborhood. I have mentioned to both of them the reason for the fence was to help keep their birds in their yard. Since they can't take a 'direct hint' I would like to find out if there is anything I can do to deter the birds from coming into our yard. They don't know any better and the owners obviously don't either. When the male turkey gets into our yard, it can't find it's way home, so the owner will lean over the fence and pick it up when he thinks we aren't looking.
I do kind of like the suggestions of the dogs in the woods. I might be able to put a spin on it to get their attention.
