Tamers Toes - Bumblefoot, Gout, Swollen, or Something Else? **PICS INCLUDED**

I guess I'll have to see with the Tricide-Neo. I ordered it from KoiDepot BTW, cheapest place I could find. Still bloody expensive though. I got some great advice from a user (not sure if she wants her name mentioned here) about splitting the stuff into quarters, and only mixing up a quart at a time - each quart last a week. I may go even farther than that and measure it by the gram. I'll have to see. The biggest problem with him and using Tricide-Neo is that he's...well...BIG. Not sure how much solution I'll have to use for his emu feet. Hopefully just enough to get into he bottom of his foot.

I'll be sure to update everyone with detailed info and pictures once I get some results, and I'll post an update after I've tried the Tricide-Neo. Wish me Tamer luck! :)

Looking at the pictures in post # 4, that does look like a bumblefoot scab with the yellow ring around it. I have some chickens who have bumblefoot in a mild form, walking around for months with no problem. If there is redness, selling, or limping, I will do the surgery. It is so much more time-saving than soaking for me. But if you do the surgery, you have to go a little deep and really squeeze and squeeze the daylights out of it to get the plug or at least some pus out of it. Since you have the Tricide Neo it is worth doing the soaks.

So sorry I haven't updated this thread in forever! Turns out the Tricide Neo I ordered from KoiDepot never came. After not getting a reply when I asked why I hadn't received it, I opened up a Paypal claim about it, and got a reply pretty quickly. The explanation I got for that was that it was out of stock, and it would be back in stock in a few days, but then I got a refund without asking for one. I don't think it's a bad business, but it's certainly not set up for online sale and they don't seem to be able to keep up with online orders. High time I found a different place to order from though - what with all the holidays and the cold and being too busy, time flew by.

Has anyone tried "Ulcer Aid Rx"? From what I've seen, it's similar to Tricide Neo, but is cheaper (around $.70 - $.80 per gram vs $1.23 per gram), and seems to work very well for koi ulcers, which is what Tricide Neo is intended for. If so, it would be a great alternative to Tricide Neo.

Well, since I didn't get any feedback on the Ulcer Aid Rx (guessing no one has tried it for bumblefoot), and I don't want to experiment too much right now, I ordered some Tricide from Koiacres, and it arrived pretty quickly. After reading through this thread on bumblefoot, I decided to also order a chicken shoe for Tamer, since his foot is so big and will probably need treatment for a while. I got some Vetwrap as well to bandage the other roosters' feet, since some of them also have much more minor cases of bumblefoot, and I'm going to use the same Tricide Neo to treat their feet. Once the chicken shoe arrives, I'm going to start treatment. :)

One thing I forgot to ever mention about his foot, is that it's always warm, or hot. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that's a pretty good sign of some kind of infection, in this case, staph infection.
