Another tip I just remembered. Find a good bowl to use and designate it as the chook's treat bowl. They'll come to know that bowl and will start mobbing you to get a peek at what's in that bowl.
Oh! and you must try yogurt! Plain, low-fat yogurt. Your chickens are older so they may be afraid of it at first. Once they start to eat it, stand back! They love to eat it, but they don't like it on their beaks. They'll fling it everywhere. It's a hoot to watch.
