Tap water for chicks/ducklings/goslings

Finally, in general, I have a problem with bottled water. Say it comes from a "Spring" or even simply another city's Municipal Source. Seems like it's trading apples for apples to me.

Too true.

For a short time I worked at a 'Bottling Company' with a big brand cola name. The plant was in the industrial section of the city, well away from mountain streams and artesian wells. Nearly every big city has their own bottling plant. While the company was named for one of big cola outfits they bottled all brands, from Coke and Pepsi to Shasta and all the little odd unknown brands no one ever remembers as well as all the brands of water sold.

They had contracts with all the brand names and would 'bottle up' however many cases each brand had contracted for. Just switching out the shape and size of the bottles and the labels as the brand names changed on the assembly line. One minute we would be filling an order for some brand of cola and the next the assembly line would stop long enough for the boss to punch some buttons turning off the syrup and carbonation and we would be filling “filtered, mountain stream or artesian” water bottles.

All the water that went into the cola and water bottles came from the same city water main.

There were water filters inside the plant but they were just bigger versions of the filters you can get for your home. I was told they were there to filter out the chlorine, the flavors of cola and chlorine apparently clash. The filters worked out well when they started bottling water because apparently just the absence of taste of chlorine will convince people that its ‘wild water’.
