Tapeworm issue

Got it. And deworming chickens is always recommended, right?
Chickens get worms just like any other other animal, more so because they are always pecking the soil. In doing so they pick up worm eggs and are swallowed. I worm my birds monthly due to our wet soil conditions. Our dog gets wormed monthly as well.

I use SafeGuard equine paste and the dosage is a pea-sized amount for 1 chicken and they take that orally for 5 days straight and then the withdraw date is 2 weeks, Safeguard, is a brand name for Fenbendazole, which is a drug used to rid of most roundworms, tapeworms, and gapeworms. On Amazon, they sell it for $10

Edit: i deworm my chickens every 3 months

Fenbendazole will get rid of all poultry roundworms. It wont get rid of tapeworms from my experience. It's best to use Equimax, Zimecterin Gold or high doses of Valbazen while withholding feed.

i only treated for gape worm and that's what other people told me but i would agree with using Equimax, Zimecterin Gold or high doses of Valbazen like you sated

So I’ve always read that Ivermectin has no affect on tapes. I’ve never used it though, and @Kiki is very knowledgeable, so I could be wrong.

I use Valbazen in my flock, which has an egg withdrawal of a couple weeks. I personally don’t toss them, though. But I’m not recommending anyone else eat the eggs. I just don’t toss them, because Albendazole is the same drug they give humans. (Not that that makes it safe...lol)
What do you do with your eggs from the being treated hen? do you continue to consume them yourself? I am trying to figure out the withdrawal time for the equimax and am worried of a two month span.

Well, when I use Valbazen, yes, I just keep eating the eggs. But I do not recommend that to anyone. It’s just what I do. With other wormers, I don’t know the withdrawal times, nor am I familiar with those chemicals. So I doubt that I would continue to use the eggs.
