Taste of organic eggs vs normal

Flatly put, I haven't detected a drastic difference in taste. I 've tried, even doing side by side comparisons. .

If you don't give your birds access to grass and weeds and bugs then your eggs won't taste any different. dry chicken feed is the same to a big producer as us.

Awhile ago we were running short on eggs. My husband and kids all love eggs so I bought a carton from the grocery store. We still had a few "home laid eggs" so I cooked (fried) everyone a store bought and a home laid one. I didn't say anything to my family. They could all tell immediately by the taste. I tried the side by side taste test myself and what a difference! I didn't realize there could be such a big difference. I still remember how much the kids complained. Now we only eat "home laid eggs" except for hard boiled for egg salad.

My kids know the difference in color and taste between the eggs we've been getting from our friend and store-bought eggs; I can crack a couple from each group and they play "name that yolk"! The orange, firm yolks from the "natural" free-range birds taste better and do cook up better (I think Rufus said it) than the way the pale-yolked store eggs cook. Besides better taste, does anyone know if we're getting more protein from the free-range ones?

There is a difference between Certified Organic and the free range/backyard eggs many of you are referencing in your responses. I would be surprised if there was a taste difference in STORE BOUGHT CERTIFIED ORGANIC eggs and conventional eggs since the diets fed to these birds are very similar.

I would definitely expect a difference in taste between a conventional egg and the eggs from free range hens allowed to eat greens.

Before we "grew" our own eggs, my three year old would not eat hardboiled eggs for anything. Once our chickens started laying, I boiled a store bought and a "home grown", the first day I gave her the "home grown" egg, she scarfed it down. The next day I gave her the store bought one, she took one bite, said yuck, and down the disposal it went. That was enough for me.
