I would like to start by saying thanks to all the BYC members for posting such great advice on chicken problems from A to Z. I have been reading all your post related to raising chickens to building coops since obtaining 4 BR bitty hens as a project for me and grandsons. We are awaiting our first egg as they are 19wks old this Friday. I have read that potato skins are toxic to chickens but was wondering about tater chips as one of our girls grabbed one from the grandmother yesterday and poof it was gone. Grand ma ma is also a project director:

Careful of the skins & I'd avoid raw potatoes. A chip isn't going to hurt, but a steady diet of oil isn't good.. so no habits there. Plus, just like with us humans, those chips are empty calories... no nutritional value.

from the Finger Lakes of New York! I would not worry about one chip. I have certainly seen worse. (Chickens are almost as bad a goats when it comes to eating anything!)
