Hi, I have a small flock of 7 hens and they are now 11 months old
This is their first winter and their feathers are looking pretty tatty, is this normal? Should I add a supplement to their layer pellets? I’m providing daily green leave veg and they have a small amount of scratch to keep them busy and active
The temperature has been down to -6 but I’ve provided straw on the pen floor and the n extra log perch
I’ve placed a taup over theee sides of their pen to keep rain out and they continue to lay well and I’m getting 5-7 eggs daily

Pics?

I’m not sure, a few feathers found here and there but they just ok unkept, I’ve seen them grooming and tweaking their feathers but the weathers been pretty mixed over the last 2-3 weeks yet they still enjoy the ‘open to the elements’ end of the pen !
