Your link didn't work for me...

Thanks for the information everyone

I've replaced the wafers and the fan since I've had it, so it's not the original 'guts'. It works fantastically (and if you've never smelled the inside of a redwood bator, put it on your list of things to do before you die... I LOVE IT).
I can't wait to put a really large hatch in it, since the most eggs I've had in there were maybe 25. LOL Go figure, all that room and no eggs to hatch.

You are dead right about that!

That sucker was made for a large operation. Not quite commercial, but danged close. That unit was intended for what we would today call a "truck supplier." Back in the Golden Age of Poultry, from 1900-1950, the markets were supplied with gazillions of "small" producers. These were close to the market, ringing the urban centers like a necklace. Once the interstate system got going, the large centralized commercial outfits we decry took over - and the "mom and pop" went out of favor. With fuel prices ever increasing in our day, I can see the Truck supplier methods coming back in favor.

You are a hobbyist and not dependent on poultry for your livelihood or subsitence, so that big thing is more than needed.
But man, is it sweeeeet!

True, but I couldn't bare to part with it. Maybe some day, I can hatch chicks to sell from my own flock

. I'm sure people would buy chicks around here, they're so darned hard to come by. Our feed stores won't carry them unless you specifically order them and even then, there's a minimum number. Ugh.

I predict a resurgence of chickens as small livestock in the backyards of America. Coupled with gardening and other "green" endeavors, spurred by increasing energy costs.
You;re on the cutting edge and I suspect you're right - you could sell chicks.

Hey, your incubator is very similar to mine! I don't have top vents on the front though. I have 4 located on the top of the back half of the chest, the front opens up like a hatch, so I can change the fans and wafers. But very cool

Are you restoring it?

Ohhhh elderoo, I hope you're right! I would love to see more people getting involved with their own food raising/growing. The people in this country are so dependent it's scary. What would they do if there wasn't a McDonald's within 30 minutes?
