GENERAL UPDATE:
I bought actual chicken feed today. I'll be transitioning my chickens over to it. I plan on fermenting it just like I have been the corn.
I want to save some of the corn and see if I can sprout it and plant some in their run-type-area in the springtime so they have some this summer too.
Egg production is back down, I've had some 0 egg days and the most I've had in almost a week is 3.
We had a bird-of-prey scare this morning. DH happened to be outside. He said that the rooster was in the brush hiding and calling to the girls trying to get them to come on and hide with him. One of the Leghorns was standing out in the clearing looking around. He ran at the thing yelling and making a general racket and it flew away. The chickens went and hid in the woods and we put out the dogs to keep it away while we were gone. We were able to count them when we got home and we still have all nine. =)
I got one brown egg today, but DH said the chickens were super freaked out, so I guess I won't be getting many eggs for the next few days. =( Oh, well, such is chicken life.
