Oh good grief. $5 won't even buy the gas to get you to the feed store to buy hay. Throwing $5 your way DOES NOT count.​
 
Just an afterthought (and I haven't read all the posts here)...but if you show and you charge for lessons - there went your am status.

Better to ask for donations of, say, a bale of hay or a bag of feed or part of a farrier bill.
