I just moved my hens outside into their new tractor. The tractor has a coop on top and a pen area below. They figured out how to walk down the ladder from the coop to the pen but don't seem to understand how to go back up. Any one have any suggestions for how to train them to go up at night into their coop?

maybe if you run an extension cord with a light, and light the inside of the coop for them they will go to the light as the sun goes down

Last time I had to train chickens to do it, I put cut grapes on each step and kind of put them about a step up and then guided/pushed them up the steps. When they made it to the top and came back out, I did it all over again. I would do it about 3x a day for a couple of days.

My newest chicks, all 3 get out ok and one goes in all the time, but they won't all go up at night, so they try to sleep under the coop.
