In a teacup
Hello all, I will make my introduction short. I have eight silkies, three white, three buff, and two black. They were purchased from Tractor Supply Company during chick days. Now with them at eight weeks I finally built them a coop. First we started with four pallets, and made sure they were level. Next, we put some boards from more pallets (broken down) and put those around the edge. Once that was done we built the 4x4x4 frame with a 1 foot slant down to the back for the roof. All left to do was put the OSB board on the walls and roof and we were done. The chickens were moved in around at 10:00 at night and in the morning the temporary run was added. Now I know this is my first post so if you feel the need to say hi, please give a proper welcome and not this guy > [

Hello ~ Pretty Clever Little Coop .. I hope it works out for you : ) I am from Rural NY and Love My Chickens as well .. Are you going to Shingle your roof or anything like that .. My husband is building me a new coop and said he felt we had to to keep the coop dry .. Looks like a Happy Little Family in there Enjoy ~ Corinne

Yes, hopefully today I'll get the shingles on and put in a window and chicken door. I plan on painting it blue (temporary) with white shingles and eventually painting it red.
The chickens also have a small porch since the four pallets are bigger than four feet.

Sounds Wonderful ! I Really enjoy seeing the different coops and designs.. So Many from converted Dog houses and sheds to Wow I wish I could do that very Elaborate coops .. My New one is going to probably be my Last one.. Or so My Husband says as He keeps telling me how much everything is costing .. But I AM SO Worth it lol .. But we had some old siding that matches my house in the garage so he is going to side it to match my house .. I am thrilled about this as much as I love having my little Back yard Farm I do wish to have it looking pretty too. And I already have a goat pen a converted car port and another coop made out of an old box truck lol.. Something needs to blend in a little ..

sounds like you have fun building structures. Maybe you should post a step-by-step build under the coop section of the forum. I was going to but since it was built mostly at night I couldn't take many photos.
