Flash was campy as all get out by deisgn. That's how the radio era show was as well.

HHGG is MUCH MUCH better if you've read the book. You miss a lot of the jokes and satire if you don't know where your towel's at. And come on! Singing dolphins are always a win.

The Perelandra trilogy
Love me the Horus Heresy
Star Trek and Star Wars books (the canon, of course)
Anything by Asimov, Crichton, Clarke Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard, LeGuin, McCaffrey, Weis, Arthur C. Clark, Orson Scott Card, Carl Sagan...

And that's just the old stuff. There's so much good new stuff I have yet to really dig into.

I wish someone would come along and turn the Dragonriders of Pern into a good series. Maybe Amazon will pick it up someday.

Do TV series count? Babylon 5 was a fantastic series once you get past the first season. Once you finish the series, go back and rewatch to see all of the foreshadowing all the way back in the beginning.
