Hey everyone!
I caved and agreed to let my family get chickens winter 2020.
We got a lovely coop and run kit, sectioned off a chunk of the yard to keep them safe from the dogs, and ordered 10 hatchling (dual purpose straight run) from TSC (HH) for egg purposes and, let's be honest- winter during times of Covid sucks and I needed something to enjoy.
They arrived in late January.
We lost 3 within 2 days. I made the mistake of naming them and cried a bit after trying to nurse them to good health (waking up every 2 hours to feed them and clean the pasty butts).
Happily, the other 7 are going strong! They lived in a large pen in our dining room until heads were fully feathered, and we moved them outside into their "big girl" house. They are just over 10 weeks now, and I can't believe how in love I am with them.
So hello from a newbie that is totally hooked.
