Teeny little crack

I see a tiny crack this evening in an egg at 20 days. Has anyone watched or seen the beginning of a pip? I'm hopeful this is it! Curious if it's a fast process
It is most likely a pip! I like to make note of when I see the pip on each egg so that I can monitor and make sure that the chick has hatched out within 24 hours.

I just awoke and it's start of pip. Thanks for responding I was watching post but my notifications weren't working.

Is it normal to take this long there's no hole yet been 12 hrs since the crack discovered. The timing is about right because I had been in there a bit earlier and didn't see anything. But 13 hrs it's been and no hole yet some change.

That's definitely a pip! In my experience, the egg will stay pipped for 6 - 12+ hours with no progress and then the chick will start to zip around the shell and hatch - this can take as little as 45 minutes to 6 hours.

Great thanks! Obviously my first time! Had a good broody hen in past years but have always wanted an incubator. It's really making me nuts! Hard to not know everything. Worried there was no hole Appreciate your response.

Yes, it is fine! Keep an eye on it! The chick should hatch within 24 hours of pipping!
