To make a long story short, I found an egg that's about...maybe 1/4 the size of a normal large egg. It's so tiny! The other strange thing. It appeared in a nest beside 3 other normal eggs...and I only have 3 hens.

That part isn't so interesting, though, seeing as apparently they all lay an extra one every once in a while. That's normal...right?

So, I don't think this egg is so scary, but my mom is afraid to eat it. (It's safe to eat, right?) I have never come across anything like this before, and just wanted to be sure my girl's were OK. And if it would be okay if we ate it. (;

Thank you!

Yes you can eat it, but the yolk may not be big in it. I have gotten some that there was barely any yellow to it. I think they call it a fart egg or something.

When pullets start laying you may get an egg that is small/ minature. It is fine, crack it and cook as normal. Usually after 1 to 3 eggs of this size the pu will start laying a more medium size egg. You may even get some douuring this stage as she begins to regulate her laying.
