this is a thread about your odd chicken mutts i will start i am currently hatching a chick i breed myself it is a quail Belgian bearded d'anver bantam mixed with a buff Orbington large fowl how odd is that!! tell us your storys!!

Alright, here's mine! This is Cosmos. His mom is a Cochin/Silkie frizzle, his dad is a Polish. The story behind him is, two years ago, all my roos except one were too young to breed. So I didn't have any Silkie roos to mate with my Silkies, so the Polish got all of my hens/
Here he is! Where that comb came from I have no idea!
I'll try to get a full body sot tomorrow!

that is an odd comb for a silkie/walnut and cochin/single and please do get a full body shot. that is one odd (and pretty) chicken!!!

i realized what the comb looks like it looks like a buttercup comb! which none of the chickens in the family cycle you explained has!

sorry forgot about the polish who dosnt have a buttercup comb eather

Alright, here he is!
I have no clue where the comb came from, but I call him my little BUttercup :-) I know Daddy Polish is pure, as he came from show lines and is an excellent SQ roo. Mama also came from a cross of an SQ cochin, and an SQ Silkie...so I know she's pure. Cosmos is a mystery, but he so sweet! He is the size of a Silkie, and has about 3 feathers on each leg :-)
I bred him the spring, to 2 Cochin/Silkie Frizzles, trying to get a hen with that type of comb and get a new thing going...any gene experts know what type of comb is recessive to breed to him and get his comb to come through? Hatched one chick with his comb, he was bred to two hens one with single one with walnut and I'm not sure which one the chick came from. But, of course, it was a cockerel. One of the pics is Cosmos standing behind a pen, but you can kinda see him next to a Silkie. Has more of a Polish stance, but when he's relaxed he's Silkie sized. And he crows just like a Cochin. He is a perfect cross, except for the comb/
Alright, here's some not so great full body shots...he's camera shy, lol! Included are pics of his parents :-) My computer mixed all the pics up, but you can figure it out :-) I attached some pics of him growing up too...he is the one on the far right of the group pic, that's the day after he hatched. Those are the first four chicks I ever hatched, and Cosmos is the only one who made it to adulthood.

he is such a cool chicken! thank you so much for sharing! please post pics of him when ever!

is there anyone else who wants to share? dosnt have to be a cross breed!

I have nine birds in my flock, or I should say my daughters flock. We 7 different breeds she picked out. My roo is a barred rock. I've got six eggs that are 10 days from hatching. The eggs are from my white leghorn, red sex link, white silkie, and american game hen. I'm looking forward to seeing what the chicks look like as much as my 5 year old daughter is.
