So I have a brand spanking new Hovabator 2362n, which is on day 4 of my first hatch. For sanitary reasons, I was thinking about picking up a LG still air for lockdown and hatching. Several people have told me to put cheese cloth down on the wire rack in my hovabator to keep things clean and to allow the humidity and temp flow, but I'm hearing that transferring is ok to.. I just came across a used LG still air that had a computer fan added on, bator is about 1 year old. Good hatch rates for the current owner. Would this be something good for hatching? I didn't know how much role a fan would play once you hit day 18.. but what are people's thoughts?

If I have hatches in the bator that are hatching separately I lock down in my other bator.

If you choose to switch
Just pick up your eggs on day 18 and place in the bator you want them to hatch in

Be sure you have all your settings ready to go

That's what it means by hatching in another bator

Some would do their final candling and then place in lockdown

I just hatch in the same bator

I candle, increase the humidity, stop the turning, lay down coffee filters that's my choice and place the viable eggs back in, close lid

Sit on hands... And enjoy the show

If you are going to use another incubator for hatching I would actually switch over before lockdown ( a day or two before) only because you could have a chick hatch out early and then you would not be able to switch over.
