Regarding the city's limits on chickens, I got my first three from a lady who lived directly in the city, right across the street from a big museum, and she had 26 of them!! Never mind that in Seattle, the limit is 3. That did it for me. If she can have 26, I think it wouldn't hurt to have 5 or 6. Oh, and did I mention that her 26 were free range? They were everywhere! I'm sure her non-chicken people neighbors were wondering where this strange new flock of "birds" had migrated from.

You're not crazy. We're building coop #3 (turkey coup) and maybe a #4 because nobody will take my langshan roo. Plus we just put a big garden literally in the center of my back lawn. Hope the neighbors get a kick out of the huge corn stalks in the middle of my yard.
