I read your post this morning and then saw that VERY same behavior later in the morning when I took Kingfish the Roo back to where we got him. There is a Rhode Island Red and a Buff Orphington there who had chicks about 5 weeks ago - the baby chicks were doing this to each other. They are so cute, it is very interesting seeing how early they start acting like this...
