I am pickin up a few more chicks tomorrow, from TSC, I just cannot hold off till my hatch, the 17th...
I want EE's but I am honestly not sure how to pick them out of a bin full of mixed up chicks! Please please give me some pointers! Thank you so much!!!!

You'll be looking for blue/green legs, and big fluffy chicks.

Look at their faces, for large "puffs" of fluff beneath their eyes (these are muffs).

They are typically a chipmunk type of color.

Ok thank u!!! Do they ever not have the chipmunk colors? Id love some different looking ones! Thanks for the advice, fluff cheeks, puffs under the eyes and blue/green/slate legs! Got it!!

I got 2 different colored EE's, other than chipmunk. One was grey/blue with a little brown on its head and the other a cream color with a small V shape of yellow on it's head. The white ones legs didn't have really grey colored legs, they were just a tinged yellow and I was worried about that, but they have gotten darker grey as she has grown! Just look for the puffy cheeks and colored legs, they come in many colors...but a lot of stores will just have the chipmunk colors. This is Boo and BG

Yes they come in other colors I got five this year and not one of them was a brown chipmunk... I got a silverish pale yellow (turning out to be a beautiful silvery-white with little bits of tan at the top of the wings-my roo out of a pullet bin)... one that was drk brown/grey (now a bit lighter brown with greyish wings and head), one black & grey w/ chipmunkish markings (looks like wolverine markings in black, grey and white-very neat looking- possibly another roo out of the same pullet bin), a light brown (now apricot colored with bits of grey in wings- she's very pretty), and I got a pale grey with dark grey spots along the back (was turning out to stay that way before we lost her

she was so pretty..... any way good luck. Go for the fluffy faces with puffy cheeks and greyish-green legs and you will likely get an EE!.............Sorry I don't have any pics avail.

The only reason I didn't get brown chipmunks was because they had a decent assortment of other colors available and I always see the brown chipmunks figured I could get one of them later- maybe someone else will know do the chipminks all turn out with similar patterns/coloring when they grow up or do they change drastically?

It really is amazing how much they change! I am going to take another pic to show you guys. I hoped my white EE would have stayed white but she is spotting with cute tan colors and my blue/grey one seems to be getting lighter with tan! My cricket EE is adorable witha dark patch under her chin, looking like she is wearing a bib... I can't believe how different they all look!

Aw they are so cute! I am so looking forward to getting them! I have 1 EE hen, Olive is her name. She came to me by chance, but I love her eggs more then anything, plus she is just distinct, she stands out, they have such cool markings. Lord help me, I was only going to get 2, but if there is a good selection I will be in trouble.

You won't find any Ameraucanas at TSC, trust me. No hatchery has them and TSC get theirs mainly from Privett and one other. EEs come in mostly chipmunky patterns as babies and can have any color leg at all since they are not standardized like Ameraucanas. Look for poufy cheeks and no feathers on the legs.

Look how much darker the white chicks legs have gotten!
