Check anyway! AND check all the smaller feed stores. I got 1 of my EEs at IFA and the other 2 at Cal Ranch and I have heard of a lot of other smaller stores have ordered and ordered for other people who ended up not wanting their chicks...so you never know...

It's easier in my area to find EEs in the small feed stores rather than in big chain stores. Neither TSC or Atwoods have had them yet, but the little local place had two batches of 25 so far this year. I swear I think the big stores just get all the hatchery leftovers.

She means you won't find birds that meet the breed standard for Ameraucanas. You will find easter eggers, they will be sold as ameraucanas at the feed stores. They'll usually lay blue or green eggs, esp if you get one with a pea comb. If you're wanting a true ameraucana, you'll need to go to a breeder. Most of us just want the colored eggs, the muffs are cool, too!

I have had both white/specked and chipmonk EE's. They all had olive colored legs. I am pretty sure from my last flock the white ones layed greenish eggs. My last order I specifically asked for the chipmunk chicks and now I have lovely blue eggs.

I have 6 Americana's got them at 4 wks and they are now 9 wks and haven't changed much 2 r chipmonk, 1 white w/buff speckles, one roo bluish w/speckles 1 slate and bluish, 1 is a bluish and copper all but 2 have slate legs 2 have greenish blue legs

OHHH ok, that is okay with me....But the thing is, there is a wonderful breeder here in NH who has BEAUTIFUL birds and I am totally tempted to get a flock of quality true americuana's but I am not patient, they wont hatch till the 27th, they are 90 mins plus away, gas is CRAZY and they are not too cheap!! obviously I dont expect them to be as cheap, you get what you pay for most of the time, but all things considered, i just cant decide to try my luck at the feed store, to drive for these true ones, or order from meyer? Any votes either way!? Thank u!!

Personaly I prefer the EEs. From what I can see of pics of true Ameraucanas, they aren't so interesting. I refuse to call my EEs mutts tho. I like to think of them as being... Genetically Diverse.
