Tell the truth - how clean is YOUR coop?

The first year we used a tarp and put it on the 3 sides that are open and secured it with boards screwed to it. The second year we used that hard plastic pool lining. We cut them to fit. Last year DH put in 3 windows and put the pool lining around to cover the rest of the open area. That way they had light. This year it will be the tarp again. We moved and left the hard plastic and windows behind on accident. But this year they have a run they can go out in if they want to. We will leave an opening for them to come and go as they please unless the weather is real bad. They did fine.

I clean my coop weekly and disinfect about once a month w. clorox /water spray. My 7 chickys free range so they are only in it at night. I keep shavings in the bottom and then take those out weekly and replace. It is great fertilizer for the roses.

Mine is an 8.0 on a scale of condemnable to sterile.
I have a roosting area that is covered in chicken wire. They spend most of the time on the perches when they are in there and the poop falls below into a deep layer of dri-stall. I sift the dessicated poo once a week. The deep pine shavings are rarely ever pooped in and I spot clean the stray poop and fluff the shavings once a week also. The outside pen is big enough to walk around in and is sand and peat moss and gets raked weekly.
No poop on the perches so I don't need to scrape. The gang plank gets hosed off when it gets crusty. I designed it for easy maintenance and that is what I got. An 30 minutes a week and it's done.

i broom them out every day and hose them down and change bedding once a month (i only put bedding under the roosts)

Wow, I feel bad now, my coop isn't anywhere near that clean. I have ducks, so there are no roosts in the coop that I have to scrape. The nesting boxes are completely ignored, even by the one chicken that I have, so I don't have to bother with those. I do the deep litter method, and I try to add more shavings and DE once a week to keep it smelling fresh. I confess, I do have to go and sweep out some cobwebs tomorrow.

My coop has a dirt floor, is made out of fence panels and is a pain to get a full sized rake in. I scrape out the poo every Saturday and toss in 'clean' dirt and sand.
You can't eat off any surface in there but the chickens don't mind and are healthy.

My hens have spent a lot of time decorating the roost and dropping board to their taste. I really hate to disturb their comfy home, but I do pick up poo once every three days. I can't imagine scrubbing it down so it looks like before they moved in--I think they would hate me.

I cleaned my coop in June. I won't clean it again until next June. I just toss in some pine shavings, DE and scratch about once a month.

I clean once or twice a year, I have a dirt floor so I can't really ever get it all out - before summer I try to clean it as best I can to prevent flies from making home, but I generally use the horse pooper scooper to get out as much of the shavings I can without losing dirt.

I'm getting ready now to add some more shavings to make it super thick for winter.
