I’ve recently started growing out some call ducklings. Around what age can you usually tell their quality? I’m thinking most will be pet quality but a few definitely seem a bit “better” looking even at this young age
Thanks in advance!

All I know, from the call ducks who went to shows that you see the final results with the adult feathers. I don’t know if the rules are different in your area from where I live but if you hatch in early may, you have a good idea probably end of summer. The rules for the size of the bill are quite strict here. (NL) the ideal is 28x23mm and longer than 33mm or smaller than 20mm will be known as a “fault” (for shows that is). And every color call duck has its own favorable eye and Bill color and so on. So you could check for that too... This goes for the Netherlands so I don’t know if it’s worldwide the same

thank you very much! That is very helpful

Here are some pictures of some of the ducklings, they are still very young So I don’t expect to tell anytime soon, all about a week or less besides one of the whites that’s a couple weeks.I have a few older ones that aren’t inside that I can get a few pictures of later today. Unfortunately don’t have any parent pictures
Don’t mind the messy brooder, theres about 20 ducklings in it right now until I get the second one setup, so it gets pretty messy quick lol!

Here’s a couple pictures I got today of what I mean by a few seeming a bit “better”. You can see the difference in these two greys.
The first grey is probably my favorite out of the whole batch of ducklings
