Temp & Humidity control in Hova-Bator

I didn't know about the 1588 and 1590 models. I've read up on them and may go that route as they sound great.

If you do decide to go with the 1588, try Cutler Poultry Supply. I researched for days, and they have the cheapest price.

But GQF has a very nice hygrometer too that works very well and isn't too expensive.

What's the 1590? The next step up from the Genesis?

I'll check out Cutler Poultry's website.

This is the 1588:

That's odd, both pdf instructions seem to have the same internet address, yet displayed differently. Anyway, if you open the first link at the top of this post, you can then open the pdf instructions for each model from there (bottom right of screen). I'm not sure of the differences exactly, just that the two models are listed.

The difference is 2-fold:
#1) Price - the 1588 with a turner will run you about 170 while the 1590 will run about 30-40 less.
#2) Heat source: the 1588 does not use the wafer heat system, but instead a forced air heat system. While the 1590 does have a circulating fan, it is that same frustrating wafer heat control that the 1602N has. Truthfully, the 1590 appears to be a 1602N with a small fan.

Just look at the picture differences: the 1590 temp control is that wing nut/screw setup with no indication of how far to turn to adjust. The 1588 has a series of small switches on the heat unit, but comes pre-set at 99.5 degrees - optiumum heat for forced air. You plug it in, and go.
With the 1602N or the 1590 wafer system, you plug it in, adjust, test 6 hours, adjust, test 6 hours adjust, oops too high, adjust, put in eggs, too high, lose a batch.... arrrgghh.

I see the differences you've pointed out 2009NewChickMom. I will have to do my best with this batch of eggs going in the 1602N this weekend. A new incubator isn't in the budget at the moment, but I will certainly start saving for the 1588. I didn't know about the 1588 last spring, or I would have definitely purchased it instead at the time.
