Temp is different through incubator. Day 3 of incubation

I have put the eggs in a carton and the eggs are positioned sideways. I will show a pic. I have thrmometers showing different temps. One says 101-98 f, and the other one says 100-97 f. How can I fix that. Also, because of some issues they eggs had to be moved and taken out alot. Will that mess up the process.

I would guess that the tray is causing problems with the air flow from the fan. Incubators have spaces between the eggs and turners to allow air to move around.

Agrees carton could be impeding air movement.

....and did you test and compare your thermometers in the empty incubator for a few days before adding eggs?
Not all thermometers are calibrated equally, you kind of have to average them out.
