Hi,
My chicks are 3 weeks old and today the temp here in Louisiana is 85 degrees. I have the air off and in their room it's also 85. Is it ok to turn their heat light off?
Thanks,
Lissadell

I would. Or if you have the space, have the heat at only one side of their brooder so that any chick that gets a chill can go to it for a warm up.

Agreed.
Our chicks are 2 weeks old and they have been moving away from the heat lamp to cool off,.. so we now have it in one corner and they arrange themselves in a semi circle around the edge of the light. They have gone outside on the porch in a cage a few days now for a couple of hours without a heat lamp,.. we just put one small corner in the sun, and seem very comfortable, happy and active in the 85 degree weather. I just watch them closely to be sure.
