I just installed 5v laptop cooler (small) fan on my hovabator 1602n.

The temp was b/n 99 to 100.. it was stable like this through every time..

But after I installed the fan.. it just spiked up to 110!!!!!!

I don't have eggs yet... I'm still testing the incubator..

Any tips on how to lower the temp??

usually bators do not spike unless there is an outside source of heat.. like maybe a fan motor?? You might want to rewire it so the fan is also run off the thermostat..

This is definitely natural. In a still air the hot air is at its highest around the element. When a fan is added it moves this air and circulates it in the incubator. This is why they say to set the thermometer at the top of the egg, because there are different temperature layers in a still air. I had the same thing happen to me. I stabilized and now its perfect.
